Non-fiction: Verna is currently accepting: Biography/Memoir True Crime Business/Economics Social History/Culture Native American Indian Parenting Women's Issues Health Travel Science With the exception of memoir, non-fiction does not need to be completed.  A detailed book proposal with a strong marketing plan and platform is absolutely necessary.  I will not look at non-fiction unless accompanied by a book proposal.  Initial query must highlight the marketability and qualifications of the author in order for me to consider requesting the proposal.  There is never a charge for reading manuscripts.

In general: Accepting new non-fiction clients only through a writers conference or a personal referral.  Not accepting fiction.      I consider professionalism just as important as quality writing.   This is a business - I expect a business letter. No attachments in the query. They will not be opened.   No unsolicited manuscripts.  NO PHONE calls regarding queries.  Make sure the query is addressed to me, otherwise I consider it spam. Indicate whether or not this is an exclusive or simultaneous submission, or if a partial or full manuscript is out to other agencies or publishers.     During conference times, a response could take a number of weeks.  Please review my conference schedule to determine my busy times.  Thank you in advance for your patience.
